Teachers or prospective teachers of mathematics as a researcher may deliberately make changes in learning mathematics in school by doing various experiments; so mencullah scientific method. Approach to mathematics education research can be done in such a way quantitative research. Quantitative research considers that learning mathematics is objective and measurable. Experiments can be done by manipulating the variables that can be measured quantitatively in order to look for relationships between different variables of teaching and learning mathematics.
Judging from the practice of mathematics teaching then at least there are two main factors namely the practice of learning it self and the factor value or values. If researchers want to improve the learning of mathematics in the field of content or learning materials, the researcher can make the observation of student when studying mathematics. If researchers want to improve or to obtain an innovative method of learning mathematics, the researcher needs to memperhatikan context of learning mathematics, teachers use the methods and management of learning mathematics.
Mathematics as search activity patterns and relationships, to study mathematics learning is the teacher needs to:
1.      Give a chance to students to conduct discovery and investigation to determine patterns of relationships.
2.      Giving students the chance to experiment with different ways.
3.      Encourage students to find a sequence, difference, comparison, grouping.
4.      Encourage students to draw general conclusions.

Research activities for teachers of mathematics education research mathematics to a requirement. Evaluated from the formal mathematics education research activities either by teachers, lecturers as well as by prospective teachers will be members many benefits. With the study of mathematics education we can know the existence of differences in individuals or groups to study the mathematics, we can determine the position of students in the group, can compare learning outcomes between groups. Of research activities can also be used to conduct the fit between objectives and results of learning outcomes. Can also unknown whether the basic standards of competence or competency has been achieved.
