The Indonesian nation is faced with the fact that the era of globalization requires improving the quality of all components of the nation in various spheres of life. Present era and the future is the era of the mastery of science, technology, informatics and communications technology in particular. Nations that are open, democratic and united should be able to put themselves into the social world through mastery of information technology competition.
The role of teachers has also experienced a shift from a teacher who serves as a conduit of knowledge to serve as facilitators in the learning process. The new paradigm of education development in Indonesia must always be assessed for the Indonesian nation has the ability to flexibly and dynamically to adjust the circumstances surrounding and can predict the policies in the future.
The value of mathematics can be seen from the context of the ontological, epistemological and axiological within the limits of intrinsic value, extrinsik and systemic. For a mathematician the lowest math scores is that if only his own use, a higher value if the math can be used for public interest. The highest math scores is if systemically can be used for wider interest. In its development, the values ​​of mathematics are developed to be accompanied by critical thinking because mathematics is nothing but the critical thinking itself. Nevertheless there are still other values ​​that are related to levels of quality. At first the quality of math scores is only visible on the outside, but on the quality of the second and third and so on then value of mathematics is metaphysical.
In the field of education, teachers need to continually evaluate deficiency or excess of teaching in order to obtain information for improving teaching. Also teachers need to learn the new techniques are more attractive and effective .. A teacher can reflect the style of teaching is good and if the teacher flexible ways of organizing master classes, making use of teaching resources, the achievement of teaching according to student ability, the development of evaluation systems, the handling of individual differences, and the realization of a particular teaching style according to the needs .
